For fans of American and pop culture, history, movies and Hollywood, and for anyone, the plays are a window into the turbulent 60s and how love lives on. Together the plays tell the story of actress and model Sharon’s Tate’s life before and after her murder in an imaginary cycle of stories, beginning with the acclaimed first one, SHARON TATE IN HEAVEN the solo play. Now, these duo pieces flesh out the life of Sharon and her best friend, murderer, and husband now in exile from America. Together they paint a bigger picture of Sharon Tate’s life that was tragically cut short after a promising hit as Jennifer North in VALLEY OF THE DOLLS for which she was nominated for a Golden Globe.

The plays span 1967 to the present day. Sharon Tate was born in Dallas Texas in 1943 and murdered by members of the Manson Family in August 1969 in her home she shared with her husband, film director Roman Polanski. MIA AND SHARON is a four scene story of a friendship that began on the set of ROSEMARY’S BABY in 1967. Mia Farrow is from Hollywood royalty and Sharon is an “Army Brat” but the two strike up a friendship that is deep and true as witnessed through transition and challenges for Mia after Sharon’s death. The play is a funny, heartfelt look at love, men, Mia’s marriage to Frank Sinatra and Sharon’s to Roman, family, and career. CHARLIE AND SHARON is A dark comedy imaginary meeting between Sharon and Charles Manson who orchestrated her murder that takes place in four scenes after her death in 1969. SHARON AND ROMAN is a four scene romance story of love and marriage between a holocaust surviver from Poland, Roman, and a Texas all American girl, Sharon. It shows how love conquers all through trauma and tragedy.

MIA AND SHARON is created by Jen Danby and Jessica Smith, and CHARLIE AND SHARON and SHARON AND ROMAN is created by Jen Danby and Daniel Delano. All three are directed by Austin Pendleton. Cast: Jen Danby as Sharon Tate; Daniel Delano as Charlie Manson and Roman Polanski; and Jessica Smith as Mia Farrow.

Artistic director Jen Danby started acting at the age of 5. She says "Acting is just in your blood. You know if it is calling you and Mississippi Mud was born with actors who wanted to play. When Mud was christened on Thanskgiving Day 2009, a core reason for the name was the Southern folklore that the Mississippi River came to be because when the world was made there was all this extra water and it became the Mississippi. For me, this is the American Dream in the Mud."

As Dennis Hopper told James Dean on the set of GIANT, "Don't pretend to drink the coffee. Drink it!" Do. That's what Mud is, a space to Do, in work, laboratory, gym, ensemble. And that's Giant.

And as Lord Byron says in Tennessee Williams' Camino Real, "Make voyages! Attempt them...there's nothing else."
